The weekend in Halmstad
Midsommar 2010 in Rättvik
Midsommar 2010 in Rättvik
Oh dear, the servers - and thus my blog - have been down for several days! It was no use having my blog up anyway; the internet connection in Dalarna is seriously dodgy…
On Thursday afternoon, Wiltcie, Cal, and I gathered all of our suitcases and loaded up the car, picked up Linnea and Ellen from the airport (Federico had to come by himself the next day), and drove up to the summer house in Rättvik for midsommar.
I’m not going to write a lot about the long-long weekend, so, let’s let the photographs do the talking. You can find the entire set of midsommar photographs by clicking here.
This year, I happened to be using my film camera most of the time. I can’t wait to get them developed.
Ollie i Sverige: The One Year Anniversary!
Ollie i Sverige: The One Year Anniversary!
I have been in Sweden now for one year and not having a lot to say on the matter just yet (because I’m terribly busy) but wanting to make an entry to commemorate these glorious times, here it is:
“Sweden is a pretty great country full of strange and mysterious things like pickled herring and the word ‘jätte.’ Swedes do not differentiate between ‘octopus’ and ‘squid’ and they use sand to battle ice in the winter which doesn’t work very well. I like it very much here but mostly because there are so many birds that I can feed with bits of bread.”

Flat Inspiration: The Antique Library
Flat Inspiration: The Antique Library
So, I want to make our apartment into an 18th century Baroque style library ‘of sorts’ with antique drapes which I will probably make if I find the material, full sized bookshelves including ladder, Persian carpets, golden framed pictures and mirrors, large chandeliers, and some funny little insects in frames on the walls. A lot of my inspiration involves the following photographs and things:

Interiors found all over the internet; window illustration from The Textile Blog; vintage French fabric found on Ebay; antique anatomy chart from Brown; and framed beetle model from Deviant Decor.
Lazerkrig! med David, Fredrik och Calle
Lazerkrig! med David, Fredrik och Calle
Yesterday, Marie and Peter came to peer at our new apartment and they brought a myriad of flowery plants which is very nice because one can never have enough green, growing things on their balcony and in the windows.
Afterwards, Cal and I ran into town, flailing our arms, because we were super hungry for Greek food. Thirty minutes of Greek food later, we failed to buy gold spray paint and met up with Fredrik because we had had a great idea two days ago: a laser war!
Someone decided that perhaps three people wasn’t enough for a laser war team and so we sent out text messages to everyone, but mostly people were sleeping, so the only person to really respond happily was David. He took longer than we thought he would to get to us so Fredrik and I played racing games dated from 1994. Look at how happy I am because I’m beating him!
Playing laser wars was pretty excellent indeed and we got to shoot a lot of small children and teenagers, although during the second game, I forgot that we had switched team colours and was shooting my teammates all over the place. My bad, David and tiny kid.
Below is a photo of us after the first game - minus Cal being a photographer - where I am hoarding bottles of water, Fredrik looks shocked, and David is studying his scores.
Later, Fredrik had to rush to his train back to Uppsala and then it started raining on us, so David, Cal, and I ducked into Café Bolero and spent an hour or so chatting, sipping coffee, and occasionally making bets on when the dodgy couple in the strangely dark corner would just get it over with already and have sexual relations.
Eventually, we ourselves headed home, sat next to a drunk man on the train who was talking about shoes (?), decided to stand somewhere else in the train eventually, and well, I took a bath when we got home and pretended to fight krakens whilst singing Regina Spektor songs under water. I do love having a bath.
"It's pie day, I'm in love."

Fredrik Wärngård met me yesterday in town for ice cream (walnut ice cream from that almost-eerily happy bloke in Gallerian!) and told me that he’s moving in with Carl Johan & I until Saturday morning.
Since we hadn’t yet had a proper cooking party and we had been lingering upon the idea of having a pie, perhaps apple for a dessert, I suggested that we might as well just have pies for dinner.
Shown above is the pie that we made by thinking of delicious foods and shoving them in a homemade pie crust: a bottom layer of cream cheese, a broccoli layer, beef and onions, then bacon, and on top, a pasty mixture of västerbotten and cream cheese.
And for dessert: pecan pie!
The wonders of Wunderkind
The wonders of Wunderkind
I would like to go to Berlin just to peek into this store and see what kind of exalting magic lies within.

Wunderkind is all of my favourite things wrapped into one label: the usage of my most favourite colours, the patterns, the fabrics, the cuts, the interesting details, and the eccentricity. It’s both modern and antique. Remarkably inspiring, really.
I especially love the collection for autumn, that is, looks 1, 3, and 4 that I’ve posted above. You can view the entire collection here. I think of two things when viewing the designs: magical forests and Aztec culture. What about you?
The Summer of Denim & Jeans
The Summer of Denim & Jeans
I have been in a denim-love-frenzy lately. It isn’t my fault, though. I’m going to blame it on hanging out with Johannes and reading all of his Japanese magazines about “dad style.” I am currently in love with “dad style.”
Anyway, before this spring, I only had perhaps five pieces of denim excluding denim jeans, of course, in my wardrobe and as you can now guess, it’s growing weekly. Still not my fault.

Yesterday, Cal brought home the denim shirt for me. It’s 349 SEK at Lindex. Shoes from American Apparel, Necklace from Topshop.
