Det är för många citroner!

Carl Johan recently brought about one thousand lemons home because I said I should have more fruits in my diet (as I have been ill again). I don’t know why he thought I would eat lemons. Does anyone actually eat lemons like they eat other fruits, i.e., take a big bite out of them and say “mmm, fruit!”? No big deal: he brought about one thousand of other fruits as well.

So, as I was trying to find a use for that many lemons besides lemonade, I came across several articles about making your own facial cleansers or using lemons for healthier skin.

It’s very simple: juice a lemon, soak a cotton pad with the juice, apply it to your face staying away from the eyes and you have a choice: leave it on for 20 minutes or leave it on as you sleep. It burns and itches for a moment but I have noticed a difference in my skin and so have others and it’s a lot cheaper and a lot simpler than anything else I’ve used.

Another great - yet sticky - thing to use is honey.
What are your home-made skincare regimés?

Liam says:

Please can you send me some of your home made lemonade?

ollie says:

Mate, come to Stockholm on your holiday and I will make you some lemonade.

Liam says:

MAYBE! But you will be ill anyways and cough disease all over me.

ollie says:

I will be healthy, I swear.

Liam says:

Ok see you next week!

ollie says:

No, have your holiday in warm weather. Stockholm is too cold for a holiday.

Liam says:

I haven't got my passport yet so it won't be any time soon.

ollie says:

Still? Get on it, mate.

Liam says:

I'm too lazy mate.

Jason says:

Lemon juice will dry your skin out, which is most likely terrible in frigid climates.

Lemonade is a great use for lemons! And they're good in tea. I like to eat them after a meal to clear my pallet.

ollie says:

I forgot to mention you must use mosturiser everyday. I thought it was a given. ;)

ollie says:

Stop being lazy.

Noemie says:

Lemons can also lighten your skin!! And calm freckles.

oatmeal as a face mask is nice. just oats plus water. it's supposed to be soothing.
honey as a face mask is good too. it's supposed to be good for wounds as it kills bacteria..? i think i remember reading that.
you can use tomatoes the same way as lemon, it's a good astringent for oily skin.
while i was growing up my parents had this HUGE book, like a back to the earth hippie book and there was a chapter on home remedies and skin care.. i had it memorized for years!

ollie says:

Where have you been! :O

ollie says:

Oh my gods, I want that book. I need to turn myself into an almost hippie. Swedes are hippies.

tara says:

i will find out the name of it, my mom still has it!

ollie says:

Cool. :D

tara says:

the book is called "back to basics", it came out in 1981 and there's a third edition out now but according to at least one reviewer the first aid section is "dangerously out of date" and she suggests a different book entirely. i plan on going to my mom's this weekend and if she still has it i can look over the skin care home remedies and see if there's anything interesting!
